No proposal for the establishment of a knitting industry in Valentia Island, County Kerry, has been submitted to the Industrial Development Authority. However, I understand that preliminary discussions have taken place between the area development officer and local interests regarding the possibility of establishing a knitting project on the island. The IDA have no factory premises on Valentia Island but, if and when their assistance is sought in respect of the establishment on the island of a viable project of the type referred to, the IDA will assist the promoters in every way possible in their efforts to secure suitable premises.
