Vol. 334 No. 4

Written Answers. - New National Schools.

827.

asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the erection of a new primary school at Cromane, Killorglin, County Kerry.

A grant had been sanctioned towards the cost of the proposed new national school at Cromane, Killorglin, County Kerry and planning on the basis of four classrooms and a general purposes room had reached a stage in December 1981, where it was expected that tenders could be invited at an early date. In view of evidence of serious future decline in enrolments, my Department had to review the project and it has now been decided that the school will proceed on the basis of three classrooms and a general purposes room. The Commissioners of Public Works are at present revising the plans to give effect to this decision.

asked the Minister for Education when Corduff primary school, County Monaghan will be ready to go to tender.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that working drawings for the proposed new national school at Corduff, County Monaghan have been completed and that a bill of quantities is now being prepared. The commissioners expect to be in a position to invite tenders for the project at an early date.
