At present the ambulance service is operated on a regional basis by health boards and is co-ordinated at the national level by the ambulance services committee which is representative of Department of Health, the health boards, Dublin Fire Brigade service and the Army. The service works very satisfactorily and I have no plans to change the present arrangement.
