Vol. 334 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

648.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A further house improvement grant cannot be paid in this case as a previous grant was paid in 1976 and the works which were the subject of the further application commenced within five years of the payment of that grant.

649.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 4 March 1982.

650.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in relation to an application for a £1,000 grant for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

My Department is awaiting the submission of a form SL.4 which the applicant has been asked to complete and have certified by his inspector of taxes, confirming that he has not previously claimed income tax relief in respect of interest paid on money borrowed to purchase or build a dwelling.

651.

asked the Minister for the Environment if local authority tenants qualify for home improvement grants when they build bathroom or bedroom extensions to their local authority homes at their own expense.

They do — as is stated explicitly in my Department's explanatory memorandum on house improvement grants.
