Vol. 335 No. 1

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

771.

asked the Minister for Labour when a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who has been waiting some considerable time will obtain redundancy payments.

Apart from recent representations made to me in the matter, no approach has been made to my Department either by the employee in question or his employer. If the Deputy supplies more information I will have the matter investigated immediately by my Department. In the meantime, I am sending to the Deputy for transmission to the employee concerned a copy of the "Guide to the Redundancy Payments Scheme" and copies of the necessary forms to enable a claim for redundancy payment to be pursued.

772.

asked the Minister for Labour if his Department will discharge the preferential element of redundancy payments to persons (details supplied) in County Galway.

Each of the employees concerned was paid his full statutory entitlement under the redundancy Payments Acts from the Redundancy Fund. The Deputy may be interested in the possibility of waiver of preferential status in respect of claims by the Redundancy Fund against the assets of the former employing firm which is in receivership. I have been legally advised against authorising such waiver.
