Vol. 335 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

822.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This application for the £1,000 new house grant was rejected because it was made in respect of the purchase of a secondhand house.

823.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a £300 essential repairs grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

As the work in this case commenced after 26 September 1980, the payment of an essential repairs grant is, under the Housing Regulations, 1980, a matter for the local housing authority.

824.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant and mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant and mortgage subsidy cannot be paid until an inspection establishes that the house has been completed satisfactorily and is occupied. While the grant can be paid following certification of the completion and occupation of the house, payment of the first instalment of the subsidy does not arise until six months after the date of execution of the mortgage deed; the remaining five instalments will follow at six-monthly intervals.

The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

825.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Offaly in connection with his application for a new house grant; and how soon after the inspection he will receive the grant.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible. A grant will be paid when the inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

826.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have an early inspection carried out with a view to the payment of a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who applied some six months ago.

From the information supplied, my Department are unable to trace an application for a new house grant from the person named.

827.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason an inspection has not been carried out in respect of the installation of a back boiler for the purpose of converting to solid fuel for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

As the applicant carried out the work himself, a grant could only be allowed if it could be established that materials had been purchased on or before 21 January 1980. The invoice for the materials used is dated 2 October 1980 and a grant cannot, therefore, be allowed. Accordingly, it is not proposed to carry out an inspection.

828.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have an inspection carried out for a £1,000 new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the work has been completed for quite some time.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.
