asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is likely that the many long outstanding applications for telephone service in Finglas East, Dublin 11, will be met; and if he will confirm that some of the applications in question were submitted in 1978.

There are some 1,200 waiting applications in the Finglas exchange area, which includes Finglas East. It is confirmed that some of the outstanding applications were received in 1978.

Most of the waiting applications will be given service over the next year and the remainder over the following year or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a regular telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 20, who has been without service on an intermittent basis for the past two years.

The matter is being investigated and the Deputy will be informed of the outcome.

It has not been possible in the time available to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information about the application, for example, when and where it was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telephone fault has not been repaired two weeks after it was reported for a person (details supplied) in Churchtown, Dublin 16.

There is no record of a report of a fault on the line in recent weeks. Service will be restored within the next few days.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in Castleknock, County Dublin, as he has been without service for nearly two months.

The fault, which is in the underground cable, will be repaired within the next few days. Because of the number of such faults, which require attention by specially trained staff, I regret that there has been delay in repairing them.

It has not been possible to provide service so far for the person named whose application was received in February 1982 because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Waterford area.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs his plan for engineering works for the provision of additional telephones at Ludlow Street, Navan, County Meath; if the works involve the laying of cabling which will require the breaking of the pavement; if so, when the works will take place; and their duration.

There are no immediate plans to carry out engineering work at Ludlow Street, Navan, County Meath.
