Vol. 335 No. 4

Written Answers. - Clarinbridge Oyster Fishery.

806.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the decision he has taken on proposals submitted by the Clarinbridge Oyster Fishermen's Cooperative for the development of the oyster fishery at Clarinbridge for extending it to include the former St. George fishery which is nearby and for altering the fishing dates to permit catches to be taken on days in October when market conditions are attractive.

The Clarinbridge Oyster Co-operative Society Limited have submitted for my approval draft proposed rules designed to assist the better management and control of the former public oyster fishery at Clarinbridge. The draft, to which I see no objection, includes proposals for the extension of the fishing period.

I have no proposals from the society in relation to the St. George Fishery. This fishery was purchased last year by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara and arrangements for its management and development are in course of preparation.
