Vol. 335 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

1001.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a home improvement grant for an extension to a house to a person (details supplied) in County Cork as the work was finalised in February 1980; and when payment will issue.

The delay in payment of this grant was due to the apparent absence of a notification of completion of the works and a claim for payment. It is now accepted that this notice was incorporated in the notification received in regard to the applicant's solid fuel heating grant. Payment will accordingly be made if and when an inspection confirms that the works were satisfactorily completed on or before 30 June 1981. The inspection will be carried out shortly.

1002.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has been living in his house since November 1979; and when payment will issue.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named.

1003.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a back boiler grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork as work was finalised in January 1980; and when payment will issue.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a back boiler grant from the person named.

1004.

asked the Minister for the Environment if it is a condition of payment of the £1,000 new house grants that attics are insulated; and, if so, under what circumstances a £1,000 new house grant was paid in respect of a house (details supplied) in County Dublin when the attic was not insulated.

It is a condition of payment of the £1,000 new house grant that the roofs of houses commenced on or after 25 August 1978 be insulated to standards defined in my Department's outline specification.

The applicants notified my Department on 27 May 1980 that the house had been completed in accordance with the approved plans and the Department's outline specification. Following an inspection on 20 June 1980, which established that the house had been completed satisfactorily and was occupied by the applicants, a grant was paid.

1005.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state in relation to the Ashwood Estate, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, County Dublin (a) the number of £1,000 new house grants paid and (b) the circumstances under which these grants were paid having regard to the fact that none of the houses in the estate has the attic insulated.

The statistics of housing grant applications kept in my Department do not enable the information requested at (a) to be provided. However, if names and addresses are furnished in respect of the houses where it is alleged the roofs were not insulated, the matter will be investigated.

1006.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department will pay a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. An application was received from a person with a similar name of the same address. If this is the case in question the grant will be paid shortly.

1007.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Leixlip, County Kildare, as it is due for some time.

The grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and the other conditions of the grant scheme have been complied with.

The inspector reported that when he visited the house on 6 May 1982, he failed to gain admittance. A further inspection will be arranged as soon as possible.
