Vol. 335 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Cork Water Scheme.

1013.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a grant for Derrygrea group water scheme, County Cork, which was completed some years ago and which involved eight houses; and whether he will now arrange for payment.

This scheme was constructed as a private water scheme without State aid. Following its completion the group made application for State grants. The scheme was investigated by the Department's engineer but the source is considered to be inadequate to serve the houses involved. I understand however that a scheme known as the Dunmanway Road group water supply scheme is being organised in the area and it is hoped that the members of the Derrygrea scheme will be able to secure a satisfactory water supply by linking with this group. In that event I would sympathetically consider the possibility of allocating group water scheme grants in respect of the houses at Derrygrea.
