asked the Minister for Justice the estimated cost of his Department's advertising in all local and national newspapers for each of the past three years.
Written Answers. - Departmental Advertising.
Records readily available in my Department show the following expenditure on advertising in 1981:
£ |
|
Garda Vote |
61,718 |
Prisons Vote |
1,923 |
Courts Vote |
4,271 |
Land Registry/Registry of Deeds Vote |
287 |
The records of this expenditure do not distinguish between advertising in newspapers and elsewhere.
For the Vote for the Office of the Minister for Justice in 1981, 1980 and 1979 and for the other Votes in 1980 and 1979, a division between advertising and other miscellaneous expenditure is not readily available. I do not consider that the substantial staff costs which would be involved in research to extract all of the information requested by the Deputy would be justified and, accordingly, I regret that I cannot answer the Deputy's question in full.
