Written Answers. - AnCO Apprenticeship Scheme.

(Limerick East) asked the Minister for Labour if AnCO will be able to offer an apprenticeship to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who has applied for and undergone the appropriate aptitude tests.

Applications for apprenticeship places sponsored by AnCO are made to the National Manpower Service which gives aptitude tests to all applicants and forwards the results to AnCO for final selection.

The applicant referred to by the Deputy has successfully completed the aptitude test and his application will be forwarded by the National Manpower Service to AnCO for consideration.

Applicants will be finally selected for apprenticeships on the basis of their overall performance in the aptitude tests and at interviews conducted by AnCO. The apprenticeship choices indicated by the applicants will also be taken into account. The numbers to be offered apprenticeships in particular trade designations will very by reference to the number of places available in each.
