Vol. 336 No. 1

Written Answers. - House Grant Scheme.

1027.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he proposes to amend article 9 of the Housing Regulations, 1980, to allow people who have come to Ireland under the scheme designed to bring skilled workers here, to qualify for the normal new house grant, in accordance with the publicity which was given in Britain to this scheme to encourage them to come here; the likely financial implications of the change necessary; the procedures for making the change; and if the change can take effect while the Dáil is in recess.

The necessary amendment to the Housing Regulations, 1980, has now been made. As the number of applicants affected is comparatively small, the financial implications are insignificant.
