Vol. 336 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

1029.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in relation to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 920 of Tuesday, 18 May 1982, he is aware that the house in question has been occupied by the applicant as his normal place of residence since November 1980, that it was found by an inspection to be so in April 1981, and that all the necessary work had been found to be completed during the inspection; and if he will arrange to pay the grant.

Arrangements have been made for the early payment of the grant in this case.

1030.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

Payment of a house improvement grant for sewerage facilities will be made if and when it can be established that on or before 21 January 1980, either (a) a contract had been entered into to carry out the proposed work or (b) materials for the proposed work had been purchased. The Department requested this information in December 1981, but no reply has been received to date. Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the latest date for completion of work and the receipt of claims for payment was 30 June 1981. As this statutory regulation was not complied with in the case of the reconstruction work, a grant cannot be paid.

1031.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

The grant will be paid shortly.

1032.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

Payment of a house improvement grant will be made when an inspection, to be carried out shortly, establishes that the work had been satisfactorily completed.

1033.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

The grant will be paid shortly.

1034.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position in relation to the payment of a grant for the construction of a chimney to a person (details supplied) in Galway.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

1035.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant under the old scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Cork.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the work has been satisfactorily completed to departmental standards.

1036.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the undue delay in issuing a new house grant under the old scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when payment will be made.

The delay in dealing with this case is due to the failure of the builders to provide information requested by my Department on 22 March 1979, about the difference between the price actually charged for the house and the price approved in the certificate of reasonable value. The applicant was informed of the position on 29 March 1979. However, my Department will contact the applicant again in an effort to clarify the matter.
