The average current payment by the Exchequer towards the cost of each full-term equivalent student in university and in other forms of higher education during the year 1981 is estimated as follows:
University, £2,040; NIHE, Limerick, £1,720; NIHE, Dublin, £5,230; National College of Art and Design, £3,030; Thomond College of Education, £4,350; Regional Technical College, £1,470; Vocational Technological College (DIT), £1,830; Teacher Education College, £2,030.
In interpreting these figures, it will be noted that NIHE, Dublin and the Thomond College are still in the process of building up their student numbers.
