asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the present position in relation to the development of the IDA industrial estate in Killarney, County Kerry; the prospects for further development; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that it has provided two 24,000 sq. ft. factories and a 6 × 3,000 sq. ft. cluster unit on its 22 acre Industrial Estate at Killarney. One of these 24,000 sq. ft. factories is occupied by a German company, Schaef, who will employ over 100 people at full production and three of the 3,000 sq. ft. units are also occupied. In addition a 24,000 sq. ft. factory is under construction on the site for Killarney Electronics who will employ over 400 people at full production.
Construction will begin on a further 24,000 sq. ft. factory, to be financed by the private sector, later this year.
