I take it the Deputy is referring in his question to the White Paper published in June 1981. A Bill to provide for a scheme of Community Service Orders was circulated to Deputies on 17 June 1982. Apart from the legislation, a number of other practical problems — for example, the staffing of the scheme — have to be considered further and until such time as decisions have been taken on them I will not be in a position to give a firm indication as to when the scheme is likely to come into operation.
