The Government's decision to make £30 million available to Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta in 1982 was conditional on the submission by the company of a programme for the rationalisation of all its operations. As part of the programme for reducing losses and restoring viability the company has proposed, inter alia, the curtailment of food processing at the plant in question. The programme is at present being examined.
