Vol. 339 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

228.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named in the townland given.

A grant of £1,000 was however, paid to a person of the same name in the Coachford area on 7 January 1983.

229.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a reconstruction grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same surname but a different Christian name from the same address. A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a reconstruction grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A grant for the provision of an extra bedroom was not allowed in this case because the house could not be regarded as being overcrowded for grant purposes. Neither could a grant in respect of the provision of a bathroom be allowed as my Department's inspector reported that there was an existing bathroom in the house. The applicant has been so informed.
