Vol. 339 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Claddagh (Galway) National School.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the undue delay in proceeding with repairs to the roof of Claddagh national school, Galway city; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not accept that there has been an undue delay in this case. In December 1981 the Department of Education sanctioned a grant towards the cost of re-roofing Claddagh national school, Galway, and other works. The job is a complex one and the contract documents were not completed until July 1982. Tenders have been received for the work and their examination has now been completed.

The school manager, within the last few days, has confirmed that alternative accommodation is available for classes while the work is in progress and has also lodged the local contribution. A contract for the works will be placed within a week.
