Vol. 340 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Water Scheme.

235.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction an additional grant for the Eminiska/Cloughjordan group water scheme for Tipperary (NR) County Council to enable a bigger mains than was originally planned to be installed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Tipperary (North Riding) County Council in August 1982, requested my Department's approval to the county council making a special contribution of £34,000 towards the cost of increased pipe sizes on certain sections of the proposed Eminiska/Cloughjordan group water supply scheme. The proposal was examined in the Department and it was decided that the proposed expenditure to provide for increases in the size of the mains would not be justified and that the group should be allowed to proceed with the scheme as originally designed. The council were informed of this decision on 11 January 1983.
