Vol. 340 No. 5

Written Answers. - Housing for Handicapped.

290.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the building of a specially adapted house by Wexford County Council for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford as she is handicapped and at present is living in bad housing circumstances.

Under existing procedures local authorities may build individual houses or houses in schemes of 60 houses or less without my prior sanction, subject to a number of requirements including local consultations with my Department's inspector, agreement to unit costs and keeping within the available capital allocation.

Plans and costings for the specially adapted house for the person named have recently been approved subject to certain adjustments which should allow the county council to proceed with the provision of this house.

291.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

When the person named supplies the document requested by my Department, an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of a grant, if in order.
