In accordance with the practice normally followed by Governments in recent years, the following Ministers have resigned from membership of local authorities: Minister for the Public Service, Mr. John Boland; Minister for Transport and Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, Mr. Jim Mitchell; Minister for Health and Minister for Social Welfare, Mr. Barry Desmond and Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Austin Deasy.
The following Ministers have indicated that they will be resigning: Tánaiste and Minister for the Environment, Mr. Dick Spring; Minister for Labour, Mr. Liam Kavanagh; Minister for Justice. Mr. Michael Noonan.
