A capital grant sum of £186,000 has been provisionally allocated to the Mervue /Ballybane Community Complex Organisation towards the provision of a community recreation centre at Mervue. Provision has been made in the appropriate subhead of my Department's Vote for the payment in the current year of part of the capital grant towards this proposed development.
In accordance with the procedures established for the administration of the capital grant scheme for the construction of community recreational facilities, grant payment will begin when construction work has commenced on the project. Approval for the commencement of construction work may be given only when the conditions of grant-aid have been fully complied with by the grantee. In this connection, I should say that we are awaiting essential documentation from the promoters. My Department are at present in communication with the Mervue/Ballybane Group in this matter.
