Vol. 340 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Waterford School.

419.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the money which is due on the final certification of a school at Butlerstown, County Waterford has not yet been paid.

The final account in respect of the erection of the new school at Butlerstown, County Waterford was received in the Office of Public Works on 17 December 1982. The final account figure is considerably in excess of the approved tender, arising mainly from extra works which were carried out without prior authority. The extent of these extra works necessitates a very detailed scrutiny of the account in order to determine what portion of their cost may rank for grant.

A substantial interim payment of grant was made on 18 February 1983. The question of early payment of a further instalment is being examined. Explanations for the unauthorised extra works will be required.
