Vol. 340 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Garda Strength.

560.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will, having regard to the increased crime in the general Dún Laoghaire area, County Dublin, allocate extra gardaí to this district; the present number of gardaí in Dún Laoghaire; and their respective number for February 1982 and 1981.

Limerick East): There are six Garda stations which serve areas within the Borough of Dún Laoghaire — Dún Laoghaire, Dalkey, Kill-Ó'-Grange, Blackrock, Cabinteely, and Shankill. The total number of members of the Garda Síochána of all ranks assigned to these stations on 28 February in each of the years 1981 to 1983 was 238, 243 and 265, respectively.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the question of further increases in strength at the stations concerned will be considered according as the additional manpower now in training becomes available for assignment.
