Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Dublin Development Work.

396.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that he intends to allow work to proceed in 1983 in Oldtown, County Dublin on (a) sewerage scheme and (b) the additional county council houses; and if he will give full details of both schemes.

I understand that Dublin County Council are considering the tenders received by them for the Oldtown sewerage scheme in response to public advertisement and the submission of the council's proposals in that regard is awaited. The commencement of work on the scheme must await the approval of a tender and my sanction to the relevant borrowing proposal. I would expect that work on this scheme would proceed in 1983. The scheme is designed to serve a population of 500 persons.

I understand that the council are now preparing tender documents for a scheme of twelve dwellings at Oldtown and that they intend advertising for tenders shortly. Any proposals from the council to accept a tender for the scheme will be examined in my Department.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that he intends to allow work to proceed in 1983 in Naul, County Dublin, in respect of (a) the sewerage scheme and (b) additional county council houses; and if he will give full details of both schemes.

I understand from Dublin County Council that work commenced on this scheme on 7 February 1983. The scheme will serve Naul village and cater for a design population of 500 persons.

My Department approved the layout for a 24-house scheme at the Naul in 1971. Ten of these dwellings have since been built. I understand that the council are now examining tenders received for the remaining fourteen houses in the scheme. Any proposal from the council to accept a tender for the 14 houses will be examined in my Department.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that he intends to allow work to proceed in 1983 in rolestown, County Dublin, in respect of (a) the sewerage scheme and (b) additional county council houses; and if he will give full details of both schemes.

The preparation of contract documents for this scheme is a matter for the local authority and the question of a financial commitment to the scheme will not arise until the relevant contract documents have been submitted and examined in my Department. In the circumstances, I am not in a position to say when work on the scheme will commence. It is understood that the scheme is being designed for a population of 1,000 including an industrial content equivalent to a population of 55 persons.

On 5 January 1983, Dublin County Council sought approval to a layout for a total of 79 dwellings at Rolestown (of which the county council proposed to build 13 dwellings initially). In order to enable the proposal to be properly examined, the council were asked on 20 January 1983 to furnish certain additional information which is now awaited in my Department.
