Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

436.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if payment will be made during the next two weeks.

Any delay in this case arises from the failure of the person named to submit a certified form SL 4 (Tax Certificate) in respect of his wife. This document was only received in my Department on 4 March 1983 and the file is now being referred for inspection with a view to payment of a grant, if in order.

437.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant inspection will take place for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

When the person named supplies some further information requested by my Department, an inspection will be arranged with a view towards payment of a grant if in order.

438.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider an application for a house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who for very urgent reasons had to begin work without an inspection.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

A separate question relating to a person from the same address has also been put down by the Deputy for written answer for today.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant has been so informed.

441.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid to the person named on 7 February 1983. The second instalment will be paid shortly.

442.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will pay a house improvement grant in respect of very necessary work to aperson (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

443.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Under the Housing Regulations 1980 (as amended), the latest date for the completion of work and receipt in my Department of a claim for payment of the grant was 30 June 1981. As these conditions were not complied with in this case, the grant cannot be paid.
