Vol. 340 No. 11

Written Answers. - Ballyedmonduff (Dublin) Drainage Scheme.

441.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the preliminary report submitted by Dublin County Council to his Department in respect of Ballyedmonduff cottage drainage scheme, County Dublin.

Preliminary proposals and drawings for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. The proposals must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes in Dublin and throughout the country, and the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time for which adequate finance must be provided. I cannot, at present, say when I will be in a position to approve the proposals for the Ballyedmonduff scheme.

It would, of course, be open to Dublin County Council to consider carrying out this scheme under their small schemes programme for which a separate additional capital allocation is made each year.
