456.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he expects Donegal County Council to advertise for tenders for (a) specific instance and small farmers and (b) scheme houses.

457.

asked the Minister for the Environment the capital allocation for housing to Donegal County Council for 1983.

: I propose to take Questions Nos. 455, 456 and 457 together.

The number of local authority houses completed in County Donegal in each of the last five years was:— 1978, 200; 1979, 324; 1980, 181; 1981, 190; 1982, 159. It is not possible at this stage to estimate completions in County Donegal in 1983, but over 350 houses were in progress throughout the county at the end of 1982.

The question of advertising for tenders for houses is primarily a matter for each local authority, having regard to the amount of capital available for their housing programme and the need for compliance with the normal procedures governing the provision of local authority houses.

I am not yet in a position to say what any particular housing authority's allocation for local authority housing will be in 1983. Detailed claims to finance ongoing commitments on their housing programmes for 1983 have been received from all housing authorities, including the authorities in Donegal, and are at present being examined in my Department. I hope to be in a position shortly to notify authorities of their initial capital allocations for 1983.
