asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding a group water scheme (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

: Group water scheme grants totalling £2,564 in respect of six houses and seven farms were allocated to the group scheme referred to by the Deputy on 18 October 1978 and an instalment of grants of £1,980 was paid on 1 November 1978. A proposal by Westmeath County Council to make a special contribution of £2,263 in respect of increased pipe sizes was approved by the Department in October 1978 and £2,000 of this contribution was paid by the County Council to the group in July 1979.

In October 1979 the group were asked to furnish a completed Form GW 65 and to complete certain works required by the council. Several reminders on these matters have issued since that date but there has been no response from the group. The balance of State grants and the special contribution cannot be paid until it has been established that these requirements have been met.
