: There has been no delay in dealing with this case. The applicant should notify my Department when the house is complete. An inspection will then be arranged with a view to payment of the grant, if in order. asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

: There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from a person of the address supplied. There is however an application from a person of this name with a broadly similar address. A house improvement grant cannot be allowed in this case because the work proposed, that is the erection of a new house, does not come within the scope of the scheme. The applicant has been so informed.

It is open to the applicant to apply for consideration under the new house grants scheme and the necessary application form has been issued to her. It has not to date been returned to the Department.

521.

524.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will immediately pay a site subsidy grant to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who applied some considerable time ago.

: Private site subsidy is not payable directly to individuals, but under section 9 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979, a subsidy is paid by my Department to housing authorities towards the annual loan charges incurred in respect of the provision by them of sites for private houses. The subsidy is one-third of the loan charges incurred on borrowings, up to a maximum for such borrowings of £1,500 per site.

The payment of the subsidy is dependent on the fulfilment of certain conditions relating to the eligibility of the purchaser, floor area of house, density and sale price of site. The value of any subsidy payable is generally passed on to the purchaser in the sale price of the site.

Subsidy claims from Dublin County Council which include for the site provided at Alpine Heights for the person named, are at present being examined in my Department and payment will be made in due course if in order.

525.

Approval of the mortgage subsidy will then issue, if in order, and the first instalment will be paid on receipt of the appropriate claim form.

526.

Payment of the subsidy will not commence until the grant has been paid and at least 12 months have elapsed from the date of execution of the mortgage deed.

: The grant can be paid only when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. An inspection is being arranged in this case as a matter of urgency with a view to payment of the grant if in order.
