Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - School Transport Fees .

1158.

asked the Minister for Education the reason school transport fees are still being requested from pupils (details supplied) in County Longford as their parents have a medical card and the children are attending the second level school geographically nearest to them.

: Where parents or legal guardians of children are medical card holders, they may be excused the contribution in respect of any of their children who are eligible for school transport and who attend school in the post-primary education centre serving the catchment area in which they reside.

The pupils in question do not attend school in the centre serving the catchment area in which they reside and avail themselves of "catchment boundary" facilities to attend an adjacent centre. Accordingly they may not be excused the contribution.
