Vol. 342 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cashel (Tipperary) Garda Station.

830.

asked the Minister for Justice if he intends to provide a 24-hour service at Cashel Garda station, County Tipperary; and, if so, when he proposes to do so.

Limerick East): The precise arrangements made for policing particular areas are a matter for the Garda authorities, who report that the divisional officer is arranging that Cashel station will remain open until 12 midnight each day, instead of 5 p.m. as at present, when an extra garda becomes available for assignment there later this month. The authorities have no proposals at present for any further extension of the opening hours but the policing arrangements for the Cashel area will be kept under review.

There are, of course, arrangments for providing a police service for the Cashel area from the district headquarters at Cahir when the local station is closed and the area also receives attention from mobile patrols operated by plainclothes units from Thurles and Clonmel stations and the traffic corps based at Thurles.
