Vol. 342 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coastal Erosion.

27.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the serious coastal erosion taking place on the Waterford coastline; and if he has any proposals to deal with this problem.

Waterford County Council have, in compliance with section 3 of the Coast Protection Act, 1963, submitted two proposals for coast protection works at Tramore and Ballyvoyle, County Waterford. The proposal for Tramore is listed for preliminary examination but because of prior commitments it is not possible to say when this will be carried out. The completed design of a coast protection scheme for Ballyvoyle will be ready for submission to the county council within the next couple of months.

Could the Minister give us a date for when a coast protection job will be done in Waterford and could he also let us know how much has been allocated to his Department for coast protection work?

I have not got that information. I have dealt with two proposals from the Waterford County Council.
