asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will examine the position of residents of Northern Ireland and Irish people living in the United Kingdom who wish to take out an Irish passport but who must pay £30 for it, whereas they can get a British passport free of charge; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Passport Fee.

The fee charged for an Irish passport is one established for general application and it would not be appropriate to waive it in individual cases, or to create a distinction between passport applicants living within the State and those outside it.
I am not aware that British passports are issued free of charge to persons eligible for them living in Northern Ireland or Britain.
