asked the Minister for Education the reasons she gave incorrect information in reply to Parliamentary Question No. 979 on 26 January 1983 in regard to the establishment of a school of music; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 220 and 221 together.
I regret that a misunderstanding arose in this case. The reference to a school of music was interpreted in my Department as referring to an educational institution of second level status and advertence was not made in connection with the preparation of the reply to the proposal which had been received for the establishment of a college of music in Galway.
The position in relation to the proposal for the establishment of a college of music is that I am not in a position to approve it in the current circumstances.
