The number of farmers in County Galway who benefited from the EEC Ground Limestone Subsidy Scheme in 1982 was approximately 2,300.
The total amount of subsidy paid under the scheme in the period May 1981 to 31 December 1982 in respect of deliveries of ground limestone to farms in County Galway was approximately £340,000.
Under agreement reached in the Council of Ministers in Brussels in recent weeks, the lime subsidy scheme will continue to operate in all counties, including County Galway, up to April, 1984.
