The amount allocated to County Galway under the scheme is £351,000. Distribution of this amount between the local authorities in the county is a matter for the county manager subject to the general conditions of the scheme and appropriate advice to the councils concerned.
A further sum of £2 million is available this year for longer-term projects under the environment works (special projects) scheme. Proposals from Galway County Council, along with proposals from other local authorities, for allocations from this amount are being considered by my Department in conjunction with the Youth Employment Agency. I hope to make allocations shortly.
