Limerick West): The Garda authorities say that 26 cases of raffles have come to their attention since 1981 where the prizes were houses or farms. Prosecutions leading to convictions were instituted in four cases and the remainder are still under investigation.
Various proposals have been made for the amendment of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956. I propose to consider the law in the matter as soon as the pressure of urgent work permits.
