asked the Minister for Agriculture (i) the number of sheep slaughtered in Irish meat plants in 1982 and their value; (ii) the individual number of sheep slaughtered in the various Irish meat factories in 1982; (iii) the deductions made for his Department, CBF levies, etc., and the individual amounts for each levy.

The number of sheep slaughtered in licensed meat export premises in 1982 was 904,100 head. The value of these slaughterings in terms of prices to producers was IR£41 million.

It would not be appropriate for me to disclose individual factories' slaughterings as this information is confidential.

The veterinary inspection fees payable to my Department amounted to £243,167 and £55,462 was payable in respect of CBF levy.

asked the Minister for Agriculture (i) the number of cattle slaughtered in Irish meat plants in 1982; (ii) the individual number of cattle slaughtered in each meat plant during 1982; (iii) the payments made for all cattle slaughtered in Irish meat plants in 1982; (iv) the amount of money deducted from these slaughterings in respect of his Department's levies, veterinary, CBF etc., and the individual amount for each levy; and (v) the amount of beef sold into intervention and its value in 1982.

The total number of cattle slaughtered in licensed meat export premises in 1982 was 936,720 head. The value of these slaughterings in terms of prices to producers was £447 million.

It would not be appropriate for me to disclose individual factories' slaughterings as this information is confidential.

The amount due to my Department for veterinary inspection fees was £1.5 million and levies totalling £580,000 were payable to CBF. 60,500 tonnes of beef valued at £117 million was sold into intervention in 1982.
