asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will state arising out of previous replies to parliamentary questions (a) the amount of rent, rates and maintenance costs incurred in respect of the Dún Laoghaire premises which were acquired by Bord Iascaigh Mhara from the date of the signing of the lease until 31 May 1983; (b) the actual amount paid to date to owners and the arrears of rent, etc., if any, due at 31 May 1983; (c) the annual rent, rates and maintenance costs in respect of the board's present headquarters and the amount actually paid out in each of the two years ended 31 December 1982; and (d) if he agrees that BIM should not move from Hume House to Dún Laoghaire.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows: (a) IR£558,769; (b) Rent IR£513,400; no arrears; (c) year ended 31 December 1981: IR£222,257; year ended 31 December 1982: IR£231,359.

I would like to assure the Deputy that it is my intention to have this matter of BIM accommodation resolved at the earliest possible opportunity.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry (1) the amount of money advanced by the State in respect of the boatyards operated by Bord Iascaigh Mhara at 31 December 1978, 1979 and 1980; (2) the amount advanced to the following companies which acquired the boatyards: (i) Baltimore Boatbuilding Co. Ltd., (ii) Dingle Boats Teo; and (iii) Killybegs Shipwood Ltd., (3) the repayment of loans up to 31 May 1983 from each of those three companies; (4) the amount of loans due to the board at 31 December 1982 by the boatyards which received the loans; and (5) the amount of arrears due by fishermen to the board for advances given to them in each year from 1970 to 1982, inclusive.

The following is the information requested by the Deputy:

(1) The total advances due by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara in respect of the boatyards at (a) 31 December 1978: IR£387,203; (b) 31 December 1979: IR£382,686; (c) 31 December 1980: IR£362,677.

(2) The total amount advanced to the companies which acquired the BIM boatyards is IR£694,000.

(3) The repayment of loans to BIM up to 31 May 1983 in total amounts to IR£244,257.

(4) The amount due to BIM at 31 December 1982 in total is IR£720,745. It is not the practice to give details of financial arrangements with private individuals or companies.

(5) The information requested by the Deputy can be obtained from the published BIM accounts. Copies of which are available in the Library. The arrears as at 31 December 1982 amount to IR£3,051,471 (subject to audit).
