Vol. 344 No. 4

Written Answers. - Templeogue (Dublin) Garda Station.

744.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will make arrangements with the Garda authorities to provide extra Garda patrols and a Garda station in Orwell Park, Templeogue, Dublin 6, in view of the complaints made by Orwell Park Residents' Association that there is a lack of law and order in their area.

Limerick East): The Garda authorities have informed me that they do not consider that the provision of a Garda station at Orwell Park would be warranted. They report that foot and mobile patrols from Rathfarnham station operate in the Orwell Park area to the maximum extent possible having regard to overall resources and other demands on Garda services. There has been a substantial increase in Garda strength at Rathfarnham station over the past 12 months and two additional gardaí are being assigned there on 1 July. The extra manpower has enabled the local Garda to operate improved patrolling arrangements for all areas of the Rathfarnham Garda sub-district, and the question of further improvements in the Garda service there will be considered according as additional manpower becomes available for assignment.
