The person concerned was in receipt of unemployment benefit from 13 October 1982 to 23 February 1983 when following a review of her case her claim was disallowed on the grounds that she was not available for employment. She appealed against the disallowance and following an oral hearing of her appeal the appeals officer confirmed the decision of disallowance in her case. Her continuing claim to unemployment benefit was since reviewed following the receipt of fresh evidence that she is seeking work but was again disallowed on the grounds that she is not available for employment. It is open to her to appeal against this disallowance and she has been advised to this effect.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason his Department continues to deduct money from the weekly disability payments of a person (details supplied) in County Cork.
The person concerned was overpaid a sum of £251.45 disability benefit in respect of the period from 15 August 1978 to 8 December 1979 and arrangements were made to recover this amount by deductions of £2.00 from weekly payments of benefit commencing on 10 December 1979. The overpayment was fully recovered on 10 May 1982 but due to an administrative error deductions continued to be made resulting in an excess recovery of £120.59.
The matter has since been rectified and a cheque for the arrears of benefit payable was issued to the claimant on 24 June 1983.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason unemployment benefit is not being paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.
Extensive inquiries were necessary to ascertain the date on which the person concerned first took up insurable employment to enable the award of pre-entry credited contributions to be considered and her contribution record established.
The inquiries were only recently completed and her unemployment benefit claim in respect of the period 10 February 1983 to 26 March 1983 was allowed at the weekly rate of £29.30.
All arrears due to her were paid on 1 July 1983.
