asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new housing grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who moved into her house in July 1980, applied for the grant in March 1981, was subsequently informed that there was no trace of her application in his Department and was advised in March 1982 to re-apply; and if he will investigate fully the circumstances surrounding the loss of the original application.

This application for the £1,000 new house grant, which was received in March 1982, was rejected because the application was not received in my Department within 12 months of occupation of the house, as required under Article 11 (1) of the Housing Regulations, 1980.
There is no record in my Department of the receipt of a previous application for a new house grant from the person named.
