Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Job Creation In Donegal.

365.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the plans he has for job creation in County Donegal.

In its Industrial Plan, 1978-1982, the IDA set a target for the creation of 2,800 jobs in the non-Gaeltacht area of County Donegal. During that period, the IDA succeeded in creating 1,975 first time jobs in the County or 71 per cent of the target.

Both overseas and local companies have contributed to these job gains and I should add that further employment opportunities will arise as the projects reach full production.

The IDA has over 170 acres of industrial land at seven locations in the County; 127,000 sq. ft. of factory space available at five locations; a further 12,000 sq. ft. under construction; and it is planned to build six "incubator units" during 1983 as part of the intensified promotion of small industries.

All of these facilities are being actively promoted by the IDA for suitable projects and will be a major advantage in attracting industry to the country.
