Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Special Investigations Branch.

389.

asked the Minister for Defence the compensation that will be offered to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 arising out of an incident involving the special investigations branch on a matter in which the person was completely innocent.

390.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is satisfied that members of the Defence Forces special investigations branch acted in a proper manner when they forcibly entered the home of a person (details supplied) in Dublin on Monday, 14 March without producing identity cards and without being accompanied by military police; the disciplinary measures that will be taken against those involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 389 and 390 together. Solicitors, acting on behalf of the person to whom the questions refer and his wife, communicated with my Department in relation to the allegations. The Chief State Solicitor has written to the solicitors denying liability.
