Vol. 345 No. 3

Written Answers. - Motor Cycle Accident.

249.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement as to his intentions of revising the law by way of increasing penalties in view of the ever-increasing cost of repairs to motor cycles damaged as a result of accidents caused by hit-and-run drivers.

Substantially increased maximum penalties for a wide range of offences under the Road Traffic Acts, including offences related to failure to stop etc., following an accident, will be provided in legislative proposals which I will bring before the House at an early date.
