Vol. 345 No. 4

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

231. Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for the Environment in view of the continuing increase in the cost of materials and labour which promoters of group water schemes have to meet, if he proposes to have grant aid increased.

While the level of grants paid for group water schemes is kept under constant review in my Department, I have no proposals at present to change the upper limits on the amounts of the grants.

232.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the Carrowtedane, Moy, Lahinch, County Clare, group water scheme will get full sanction to start work.

This proposal is currently being examined by officers of my Department with a view to identifying ways to secure reductions in the overall costs by way of design amendments. It is not possible to say at this stage when approval to commence work will issue, but every effort will be made to expedite the scheme so far as my Department are concerned.
