Vol. 345 No. 4

Written Answers. - Land Drainage Grant.

297.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a land drainage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

This applicant was a development farmer and it is a condition for the payment of grants to development farmers under the farm modernisation scheme that an extract of farm accounts be submitted for each year of the plan within a specified period. The applicant has failed to meet this requirement.

In cases where a development farmer does not fulfil his obligations under the scheme the grant is calculated at the reduced rate and an appropriate deduction may be made for grants paid earlier at the development rate. In this case the amount to be recovered is in excess of the amount of grant payable. Accordingly no payment is due to the applicant.
